At 137,300 GT she was the largest cruise ship ever built, and she housed Royal Promenade, a 120-metre indoor street of shops, cafes, and bars under a curved glass ceiling. The ice rink in the lower decks was the first permanent rink at sea, staging shows twice daily. A rock-climbing wall and in-line skating track rounded out a ship that made land-based resort operators sit up and pay attention.
