Die Schiffe legen an einem von drei Terminals nahe dem Stadtzentrum an, und die Uferpromenade ist zu Fuß erreichbar. Die Stadt liegt zwischen steilen Bergen und dem Gastineau Channel, und der Tongass National Forest drängt von allen Seiten heran. Tourbuden und Geschäfte für Kunst der Ureinwohner Alaskas säumen die Hauptstraße. Der Mendenhall-Gletscher, etwa 19 km von der Innenstadt entfernt, ist der beliebteste Ausflug und per Shuttle oder Taxi erreichbar. Walbeobachtungstouren starten im Hafen und haben eine hohe Erfolgsquote bei Buckelwalsichtungen. Für etwas Näheres zur Stadt bringt Sie die Mount Roberts Tramway rund 550 m hoch zu alpinen Wiesen und einem Aussichtspunkt für Weißkopfseeadler. Der Red Dog Saloon am Wasser schenkt seit den Zeiten des Goldrauschs Getränke aus und ist wegen der Atmosphäre einen Halt wert. ## Ihr Tag in Juneau Die meisten Schiffe legen am Franklin Dock an, etwa 15 Min.
