Der Einfluss des Künstlers César Manrique ist daran zu sehen, wie sich die Gebäude in das Vulkangelände einfügen. Der Name der Stadt bedeutet "Riff", und das historische Zentrum mit seinen bunten Straßen und der Salzwasserlagune El Charco de San Ginés spiegelt Lanzarotes Fischereitradition. Das Stadtzentrum ist von beiden Anlegern aus leicht zu Fuß erreichbar. Die Burg San Gabriel aus dem 16. Jahrhundert beherbergt ein archäologisches Museum, und die Casa de Los Arroyo ist ein gut erhaltenes Beispiel traditioneller kanarischer Architektur. Manriques Einfluss reicht über Arrecife hinaus: Jameos del Agua und die Cueva de los Verdes, Lavaröhren etwa 30 Minuten nördlich, sind beliebte Tagesausflüge. Die lokale Küche setzt auf frischen Fisch, Papas arrugadas (Runzelkartoffeln mit Mojo-Soße) und Ziegenkäse. Busse verbinden den Hafen günstig mit den größeren Orten der Insel. ## Ihr Tag in Arrecife Die meisten Schiffe legen am Naos an; zu Fuß über die Strandpromenade in die Stadt.
