Im Terminalbereich gibt es einen Pool, Swim-up-Bars, Geschäfte und Restaurants in einer dorfartigen Anlage mit Maya-inspiriertem Mauerwerk und Farben. Die Schiffe legen direkt an, ein Tendern ist also nicht nötig. Jenseits des Hafenkomplexes liegt das Fischerdorf Mahahual eine kurze Taxifahrt südlich an der Küste, mit einem langen Sandstrand, Restaurants am Strand und einem ruhigeren Tempo als am Terminal selbst. Die wichtigsten Ausflugsziele sind die Maya-Ruinen von Chacchoben, etwa 70 Minuten im Landesinneren, und die Lagune von Bacalar, bekannt für ihre sieben Blautöne. Schnorcheln am Mesoamerikanischen Riff ist direkt vor der Küste möglich. Im Terminal reicht das Angebot beim Einkaufen von Silberschmuck über Vanilleextrakt bis zu Tequila. Tacos, Ceviche und frische Meeresfrüchte sind die kulinarischen Höhepunkte. Die lokale Währung ist der Peso, US-Dollar werden aber weithin akzeptiert. Wenn Sie auf die organisierten Touren verzichten, sind die Strandpromenade von Mahahual und die Cevicherías am Straßenrand eine gute Möglichkeit, ein paar Stunden zu verbringen. ## Ihr Tag in Mahahual Schiffe legen am Pier an, und eine kostenlose Straßenbahn fährt zum Terminal.
