Der Terminalbereich hat ein Schwimmbad, Wasserrutschen, eine Seilrutsche und eine Gondelfahrt mit Blick auf die Bucht, alles gegen Gebühr nutzbar. Die Anlage ist in sich geschlossen, mit Geschäften und Restaurants vor Ort. Die Hauptattraktion von Puerto Plata ist die Teleférico, eine Seilbahn auf den Berg Isabel de Torres, wo eine kleinere Version der Christusstatue von Rio über die Küste blickt. Das Fort San Felipe, eine Kolonialfestung aus dem 16. Jahrhundert, steht in der Stadt am Wasser. Das Bernsteinmuseum in einer viktorianischen Villa zeigt Bernsteinstücke, darunter solche mit eingeschlossenen Insekten. Dominikanischer Rum und Zigarren sind typische Souvenirs. Mamajuana, ein einheimisches Getränk aus Rinde, Rum und Honig, gibt es in den meisten Bars. Die Währung ist der Dominikanische Peso, US-Dollar werden aber akzeptiert. ## Ihr Tag in Puerto Plata Schiffe legen in der Taino Bay in der Stadt an.
