Die Schiffe legen am Neuen Hafen an, und das Stadtzentrum ist einen kurzen Fußweg oder eine Shuttlefahrt entfernt. Die Alte Festung liegt auf einer Landzunge mit Blick hinüber zur albanischen Küste. Der Achilleion-Palast, in den 1890er-Jahren für Kaiserin Elisabeth von Österreich erbaut, hat Terrassengärten voller klassischer Statuen und blickt aufs Meer. Kumquat-Likör, aus den überall auf der Insel wachsenden Früchten gemacht, ist die lokale Spezialität. Die Küche Korfus hat durch Jahrhunderte venezianischer Herrschaft einen deutlichen italienischen Einfluss. Sofrito ist dünn geschnittenes Rindfleisch in einer Soße aus Weißwein und Knoblauch, während Pastitsada langsam geschmortes Fleisch auf dicken Nudeln ist. Tavernen in den Seitengassen bieten meist beides an, dazu gegrillten Oktopus und frischen Fisch. Paleokastritsa an der Westküste hat dramatische Buchten vor Felswänden, erreichbar per Bus oder Ausflugsboot. Die Spianada, der Hauptplatz von Korfu-Stadt, eignet sich bei einem Kaffee gut zum Leutebeobachten. Wer die Küste auf eigene Faust erkunden möchte, kann einen Roller mieten. ## Ihr Tag in Corfu Schiffe legen am Neo Limani an, 2 km von der Altstadt entfernt.
