Last stop: Rio de Janeiro. Ports up front, sea days at the end. By the time you're back in Funchal, you'll feel properly rested rather than rushed. Black-sand beaches on one island, dense laurel forests on another. The Canaries are surprisingly varied. Of the stops, Salvador tends to be the one people talk about: Afro-Brazilian rhythm in a colonial setting. Roughly 10 hours ashore per stop. No need to rush. With more nights comes more time for the ship's rhythm to kick in: morning coffee in the same spot, evening shows, late-night conversations on deck.
