Gilded Fjord Passage – Skagway & Ketchikan
About this cruise
A week or so at sea, a few great ports, and nothing to organise once you're on board. This 7-night sailing from Whittier on August 1, 2026 visits Hubbard Glacier, Glacier Bay, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan and Vancouver. You wind up in Vancouver, so it's worth planning a night or two there. Expect a run of consecutive ports, 6 stops total, with the busiest days packed close together. The sea days around them feel earned. Glaciers calving into the water, bald eagles overhead, and air that smells like pine. It's a different kind of cruise. Hubbard Glacier stands out. It's North America's largest tidewater glacier. Roughly 9 hours ashore per stop. No need to rush. There are 10 restaurants on Grand Princess, so you'd need to double up a few evenings to try them all in 7 nights. Whittier itself is worth spending some time in. Don't just treat it as a departure point. And August means long, warm days. Good for the ports, good for the pool. All in all, it's a solid trip.
