Thundering Ice Shelves – Skagway & Juneau
About this cruise
No complicated itinerary, no back-to-back transfers, just the ports, the ship, and the sea in between. This 7-night sailing from Whittier on August 5, 2026 visits Hubbard Glacier, Glacier Bay, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan and Vancouver. You get off in Vancouver, which is a good excuse to tack on a few days on land. A few ports come in quick succession, which is great for sightseeing but means you'll appreciate the sea days when they arrive. Even the open-water days are scenic here, with mountains on either side and blue ice in the distance. Don't rush through Ketchikan, which is known as Totem poles, rain, and wild salmon. Around 9 hours per port on average, which is generous enough to go beyond the obvious. Coral Princess takes the food seriously, with 11 restaurants to choose from. 7 are included, and the rest are worth the splurge. This length suits most people. Enough time to settle in and actually unwind, without the trip dragging on. The timing works well too: warm evenings on deck, late sunsets, and a lively atmosphere. All told, 6 ports across 7 nights covers a lot.
