Fredericia is a fortified Danish town on the east coast of Jutland, founded in 1650 by King Frederick III as a military stronghold. The ramparts that ring the old town are still intact, and you can walk on top of them in about an hour. The cruise port is modern and close to the centre. Cobbled streets run through the old quarter, and the Little Belt strait separates Jutland from Funen just offshore, with bridge traffic visible from the waterfront. The Fredericia Museum covers the town's military history, including the 1849 Battle of Fredericia against Schleswig-Holstein forces. The White Water Sculpture, standing near the ramparts, commemorates the Danish victory. The central shopping streets have bakeries, design shops, and coffee spots. Danish pastries here are, predictably, very good. The town is walkable. Trains run frequently to Odense and Copenhagen for those with longer port calls. Danish krone is the currency, and cards are accepted almost everywhere.
