Ocean Discovery – Aomori, Sakaiminato & Busan
About this cruise
By August 4, 2028 you'll be ready for this. 10 nights out of Tokyo, visiting Aomori, Sakaiminato (Matsue), Busan, Kochi and Tokushima, and nothing on the agenda except showing up. Port days and sea days take turns, which is about as well-paced as a cruise itinerary gets. Tokyo's neon at one port, Kyoto's temples at the next. You cover centuries in a few days. You get around 13 hours in each port, which is enough for an excursion, lunch, and some wandering around on your own. When you're not ashore, Diamond Princess takes the food seriously, with 12 restaurants to choose from. 7 are included, and the rest are worth the splurge. Longer sailings have a different energy. People relax into it, stop rushing, and start actually talking to each other. Couples, small groups, or anyone who wants proper time away will find this hits the spot. Pro tip: fly in the day before. Tokyo has plenty to offer, and you'll board relaxed instead of rushed. An August departure puts you in the best summer conditions: long days, warm nights, plenty of sun. Hard to ask for much more than that, honestly.
