Somewhere around day five the ship stops being transport and starts being home. This 14-night sailing from Vancouver on May 10, 2028 visits Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay, Whittier and Hubbard Glacier. There's a stretch of back-to-back port days, so those days are busy, but the sea days around them give you time to recharge. Glaciers calving into the water, bald eagles overhead, and air that smells like pine. It's a different kind of cruise. Most ports give you about 11 hours, so you can do more than just tick off the main sights. As for the ship itself, Island Princess has 6 restaurants on board, which means you could eat somewhere different nearly every night. By night three you start recognising faces; by night ten you're swapping numbers. That's the magic of a longer sailing. A spring departure helps too: decent weather and a calmer feel at each port. Hard to ask for much more than that, honestly.
