Barcelona's port sits at the bottom of Las Ramblas, the long tree-lined boulevard that cuts through the old city toward Plaça de Catalunya. The Columbus Monument marks the transition from harbour to city. From the cruise terminal, taxis and the port shuttle bus get you to the centre quickly. Gaudí's buildings are the main draw: the Sagrada Família, still under construction since 1882, Casa Batlló with its bone-like balconies, and Park Güell on the hill above Gràcia. The Gothic Quarter has narrow medieval streets, the cathedral cloister, and dozens of small bars serving vermouth and tapas. La Boqueria market on Las Ramblas is good for fresh juice and jamón but gets very crowded by mid-morning. For a quieter meal, the Barceloneta neighbourhood has beachfront seafood restaurants. The metro system covers the city well and a T-Casual card gives you ten rides. Pickpocketing is common on Las Ramblas and the metro, so keep bags close.
