Carnival Sunshine previously sailed as Carnival Destiny and was renamed in 2013 after a comprehensive renovation. She was the first cruise ship to exceed 100,000 GT when originally launched in 1996, which made her a genuine engineering milestone. The 2013 overhaul brought everything up to current Carnival standards: Guy's Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, JiJi Asian Kitchen, and completely rebuilt public spaces. Sunshine homeports in Charleston, South Carolina, giving the Southeast a dedicated Carnival ship with Caribbean and Bahamas sailings.
