Ocean Discovery – Naples, Palermo & Civitavecchia (Rome)
About this cruise
10 nights is that sweet spot where you actually start to relax. This sailing from Barcelona on October 6, 2028 visits Naples, Palermo, Civitavecchia (Rome), La Spezia, Portofino and Villefranche-sur-Mer and doesn't try to cram in too much. A few ports come in quick succession, which is great for sightseeing but means you'll appreciate the sea days when they arrive. Hot coastline, hilltop villages, and very good food. That's the Western Med in a sentence. If one port sticks with you, it'll probably be Palermo, Arab-Norman splendour in Sicily's capital. Around 11 hours per port on average, which is generous enough to go beyond the obvious. Celebrity Xcel (2025) is one of the newer ships out there, with current design and recent tech throughout. There are enough performances, events, and social mixers on a cruise this length that you couldn't do them all if you tried. And that's a good problem. The autumn timing is underrated too. Good weather, calmer seas, and a more relaxed ship. It's the kind of trip you actually remember afterwards.
