Port Canaveral sits on Florida's Space Coast, about an hour east of Orlando. The cruise terminals are modern, and the port area has a few waterfront restaurants and the Exploration Tower, a seven-storey observation building with exhibits about the space programme and local ecology. The Kennedy Space Center is the main draw, about 20 minutes north. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex has the Space Shuttle Atlantis on display, a Saturn V rocket, and bus tours to the launch pads and Vehicle Assembly Building. Cocoa Beach, the nearest beach, has surfing, a long pier, and the massive Ron Jon Surf Shop. If you want theme parks, Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando are about an hour's drive west. The US dollar is the currency. Car rental agencies operate near the port.
