Ocean Discovery – Tangier, Lisbon & Funchal
About this cruise
11 nights starts to feel like a proper adventure. You leave Barcelona on October 16, 2028 and the route takes you through Tangier, Lisbon, Funchal, Málaga and Palma de Mallorca at a pace where there's never any need to rush. There's a nice rhythm here: explore a port, recover at sea, do it again. You never feel rushed or restless. The Western Mediterranean route takes in Morocco, Portugal and Spain, 3 countries, and the differences show up in the food, the architecture, and the mood. Keep an eye out for Funchal: An island garden floating in the Atlantic. Around 11 hours per port on average, which is generous enough to go beyond the obvious. Celebrity Xcel launched in 2025, so everything on board is still new. You can tell. There are enough performances, events, and social mixers on a cruise this length that you couldn't do them all if you tried. And that's a good problem. Families and groups will find plenty to do: waterslides, shows, multiple pools, and something for every age. If you can, add a night in Barcelona before boarding. It's a good city to wander. The autumn timing is underrated too. Good weather, calmer seas, and a more relaxed ship. That's 11 nights well spent.
