Seattle sits on Puget Sound between the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges. Ships dock at Pier 91 (Smith Cove) or Pier 66 (Bell Street), both close to downtown. The Space Needle is the city's landmark, built for the 1962 World's Fair, and the observation deck gives views of the mountains and the bay. Pike Place Market is a short taxi ride from the terminals. Pike Place Market is the oldest continuously operating farmers' market in the US. The fish-throwing vendors, the original Starbucks, and the food stalls are the main attractions. The Chihuly Garden and Glass, near the Space Needle, displays the blown-glass artist's work. The Museum of Pop Culture has music and science fiction exhibits. The Seattle waterfront has piers with restaurants, the Seattle Aquarium, and ferry departures to the islands. Dungeness crab and fresh oysters are the local seafood. The US dollar is the currency.
