Celebrity Edge launched in 2018 and reset expectations for what a premium cruise ship could look like. The headline is the Magic Carpet, a cantilevered platform that slides up and down the side of the ship, working as a tender platform, an open-air bar, or a restaurant extension depending on which deck it's parked at. Edge also introduced the Infinite Veranda, where the balcony wall drops at the push of a button to turn an enclosed space into open air. The Rooftop Garden has real plants and live acoustic music, and Eden is a three-deck space that blends restaurant, lounge, and performance art. She gave Celebrity a completely different identity from Royal Caribbean, which was the point.
