Golden Coast Odyssey – Naples, Rome & Riviera
About this cruise
Long enough to properly switch off but not so long you need to reorganise your entire life. This 10-night round-trip sailing from Barcelona on October 2, 2026 visits Naples, Messina, Civitavecchia (Rome), Portofino, La Spezia and Villefranche-sur-Mer. Expect a run of consecutive ports, 6 stops total, with the busiest days packed close together. The sea days around them feel earned. Roman ruins at one stop, Renaissance piazzas at the next. Centuries of history at every quay. Don't rush through Messina, which is known as Sicily's gateway to Mount Etna and Taormina. Roughly 13 hours ashore per stop. No need to rush. Celebrity Xcel launched in 2025, so everything on board is still new. You can tell. With more nights comes more time for the ship's rhythm to kick in: morning coffee in the same spot, evening shows, late-night conversations on deck. Families and groups will find plenty to do: waterslides, shows, multiple pools, and something for every age. If you can, add a night in Barcelona before boarding. It's a good city to wander. And October is a good call. Still warm, less crowded, and usually cheaper too. All told, 6 ports across 10 nights covers a lot.
