Sunward Atlantic Crossing – Tangier & Ajaccio
About this cruise
16 nights starts to feel like a proper adventure. You leave La Romana on March 7, 2027 and the route takes you through Philipsburg, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Tangier, with additional stops along the Western Mediterranean at a pace where there's never any need to rush. You wind up in Genoa, so it's worth planning a night or two there. With 9 sea days, there's room for lazy mornings, long lunches, and not much else. The Western Mediterranean route takes in Sint Maarten, Spain, Morocco, France and Italy, 5 countries, and the differences show up in the food, the architecture, and the mood. Genoa stands out. It's Columbus' birthplace, a labyrinth of caruggi. Around 9 hours per port on average, which is generous enough to go beyond the obvious. At 113,321 gross tons, Costa Fascinosa is big enough that you can find a quiet corner or a crowd, depending on your mood. There are enough performances, events, and social mixers on a cruise this length that you couldn't do them all if you tried. And that's a good problem. Families and groups will find plenty to do: waterslides, shows, multiple pools, and something for every age. If you can, add a night in La Romana before boarding. It's a good city to wander. Timing-wise, spring usually means comfortable temperatures and lower prices than peak season. All in all, it's a solid trip.
