Incheon is South Korea's main port city and the most common gateway to Seoul, about an hour away by subway. The city itself has a large Chinatown near the waterfront with jjajangmyeon (black bean noodle) restaurants on every block. The Incheon Landing Memorial Park marks the site of the 1950 amphibious landing during the Korean War. Songdo Central Park, built on reclaimed land, has walking paths and canal boats if you want something quieter. Seafood is the main food draw. The fish market sells raw fish (hoe) that you can eat on the spot, and the surrounding streets have grilled shellfish and fried shrimp stalls. For something more traditional, bibimbap and kimchi jjigae are served at restaurants throughout the city. The subway connects Incheon to Seoul's major stations, making a day trip to the capital straightforward. The T-money transit card works on all buses, trains, and subways across both cities.
