Kristiansand

Kristiansand sits on Norway's southern coast and gets more sunshine than anywhere else in Scandinavia, which is relative but noticeable. The cruise port is close to the centre, and the town is walkable. Posebyen, a district of traditional white wooden houses from the 17th and 18th centuries, is one of the best-preserved of its kind in Northern Europe. The Setesdalsbanen heritage railway runs steam trains into the valley on summer days. Norwegian krone is the currency, and prices for food and drink are high by most standards. English is spoken everywhere.
