Boston's cruise terminal at Flynn Cruiseport is in South Boston, a short taxi or shuttle ride from downtown. The Freedom Trail, a red-brick line painted on the sidewalk, connects sixteen historic sites across 4 km, from the gold-domed State House to the Paul Revere House and the Old North Church. Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, the attached food hall and market buildings, have been drawing crowds since the 1970s redevelopment. The North End, Boston's Italian neighbourhood, has some of the best cannoli and espresso on the East Coast. Mike's Pastry and Modern Pastry are on the same block and locals will argue about which is better. The harbour walk connects the waterfront from the Seaport to the New England Aquarium. Harvard and MIT are across the river in Cambridge, reachable by the Red Line subway. The T, Boston's metro system, covers most areas visitors care about. Clam chowder is non-negotiable.
