Saguenay's cruise port at La Baie sits at the head of the Saguenay Fjord, where glacier-carved cliffs rise steeply from deep water. The fjord is one of the longest in eastern North America, and the forested slopes are thick enough to feel properly wild from the deck. Beluga whales feed at the mouth of the fjord where it meets the St. Lawrence. The Musée du Fjord covers the natural history and marine life of the area. Parc national du Fjord-du-Saguenay has trails along the clifftops with views straight down to the water. A short drive from port, the village of L'Anse-Saint-Jean has covered bridges and a small-town feel. Blueberry pie is the local thing, and shops near the terminal sell jams, syrups, and chocolate made from wild Lac-Saint-Jean blueberries. The Canadian dollar is the currency.
