About AIDAprima

AIDAprima is the lead ship of the two ship Hyperion class, built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Nagasaki, where her keel was laid on 30 June 2013. Construction ran well behind schedule and delivery slipped from 2015 to 14 March 2016. Her first seven day trip left Hamburg on 30 April 2016 for Southampton, Le Havre, Zeebrugge and Rotterdam, and she was the first cruise ship to sail year round from a German port. She was christened in Hamburg on 7 May 2016 during the 827th harbour birthday, with child actor Emma Schweiger as godmother. She has a vertical bow, an air lubrication system and a dual fuel engine that can run on LNG in port, and a 10 MWh battery system was fitted in 2022. The Beach Club pool area sits under a transparent membrane dome, and the Four Elements activity deck has a climbing garden and a water slide over four decks. Five buffets plus the Brauhaus, the French Kiss Brasserie, Ristorante Casa Nova, Scharfe Ecke and Tapas & Bar are included in the fare, while Rossini, the Buffalo Steak House, the vegan restaurant and the Sushi Bar charge for food.
