AIDAsol is the fifth Sphinx class ship and the second built to the enlarged design introduced on AIDAblu, with a bigger spa, 34 spa cabins with direct access to it, and an onboard microbrewery. Meyer Werft handed her over in Emden on 31 March 2011, and on 9 April 2011 she became the first AIDA ship christened in Kiel, by a Kiel resident chosen from online applicants. In July 2013 she became the first ship in the fleet equipped for shore power, and in December 2013 her two fixed propellers were replaced with a Rolls-Royce Promas Lite propeller and rudder system. Meals in the Markt, Bella Donna and East buffets, the Brauhaus and Best Burger @ Sea are included in the fare, while Rossini, the Buffalo Steak House and the Sushi Bar charge for food.
