The final stretch is open ocean, which gives you time to process everything you've seen and use the ship one last time. The route threads through 6 countries along the Caribbean coast: Turks & Caicos Islands, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Dominican Republic and Netherlands. You get around 9 hours in each port, which is enough for an excursion, lunch, and some wandering around on your own. When you're not ashore, Rotterdam has 12 restaurants on board, which means you could eat somewhere different nearly every night. Longer sailings have a different energy. People relax into it, stop rushing, and start actually talking to each other. You'll probably start planning the next one before this one's even over.
