Montego Bay, usually called MoBay, is Jamaica's main cruise port on the northwest coast. The terminal sits in the Freeport zone with duty-free shops. The Hip Strip, officially Jimmy Cliff Boulevard, runs through the centre with souvenir shops, restaurants, and bars. The Crafts Market on Harbor Street sells handmade woodwork and textiles, and haggling is expected. Sam Sharpe Square has the Cage, a former jail for runaway slaves, and the ruins of the 1804 Courthouse. Doctor's Cave Beach is a few minutes from town, with calm water and white sand. Rafting on the Martha Brae River is a popular half-day trip: a guide poles a bamboo raft downstream. Jerk chicken and pork, smoky and spiced, are the thing to eat, best from a roadside stall. The Hot Spot Shuttle runs a hop-on hop-off loop, and route taxis offer a cheaper alternative.
