Virgin Gorda is the third-largest of the British Virgin Islands. The Baths, a beach of massive granite boulders forming pools and grottoes at the island's southern tip, is the main attraction. A trail through the boulders connects to Devil's Bay, a quieter stretch of sand. Ships anchor offshore and passengers tender to the Spanish Town dock or directly to The Baths on smaller vessels. Spring Bay, next to The Baths, has similar boulders and fewer people. Copper Mine Point, on the southeastern coast, has the ruins of an old copper mine with views over the channel. Boat charters run to nearby islands for snorkelling and beach hopping. Fresh fish, conch fritters, and rum punch are the staples at local restaurants. The US dollar is the official currency. The island is quiet and undeveloped compared to larger Caribbean destinations, and that's the point.
