Singapore's cruise terminals are at Marina Bay (Marina Bay Cruise Centre) and HarbourFront (VivoCity area). Both are well-connected by MRT (metro). The city-state is compact and efficient, and the metro covers it thoroughly. Marina Bay Sands, the Merlion statue, and the skyline along the bay are the first things you see from the Marina Bay terminal. Gardens by the Bay, behind Marina Bay Sands, has the Supertree Grove with its vertical gardens and an elevated walkway. The Cloud Forest and Flower Dome are climate-controlled conservatories. Hawker centres are the essential food experience: Maxwell Food Centre and Lau Pa Sat have chicken rice, laksa, char kway teow, and satay at very low prices. Chinatown, Little India, and Kampong Glam each have a distinct character. The Singapore Botanic Gardens (UNESCO-listed) and the National Gallery Singapore are worth visiting. The Singapore Dollar is the currency.
