About Zaandam

Zaandam entered service in 2000 as the second ship in Holland America's Rotterdam class, built by Fincantieri in Marghera, Italy, and named for the Dutch town near Amsterdam. It is a close sister to Volendam, sharing the class's musical decor theme, including a Dutch pipe organ and a collection of instruments signed by touring musicians. A dry dock in Freeport, Bahamas in early 2025 rebuilt the Greenhouse Spa's thermal suite, refreshed the fitness center and library, and added an Art Studio and a Signature Studio for private photo sessions. Onboard dining includes the main Dining Room, the buffet style Lido Market, the Pinnacle Grill steakhouse, and the Italian restaurant Canaletto. The ship sails longer itineraries such as Grand Voyages and calls at smaller ports that larger vessels cannot reach, with seasonal deployments spanning Alaska, the Panama Canal, the Amazon, and the South Pacific.
