Volcanic Horizon – Hilo, Kona & Ensenada
About this cruise
Somewhere around day five the ship stops being transport and starts being home. This 16-night sailing from San Francisco on April 9, 2028 visits Hilo, Kailua-Kona, Honolulu, Nawiliwili and Ensenada. The first couple of days are at sea, which gives you time to settle in and get to know the ship before the ports begin. Each island feels different: Maui's beaches, the Big Island's lava fields, Kauai's cliffs. Most ports give you about 11 hours, so you can do more than just tick off the main sights. As for the ship itself, Ruby Princess takes the food seriously, with 11 restaurants to choose from. 6 are included, and the rest are worth the splurge. 16 nights is long enough to build a routine on board: favourite restaurant, favourite deck chair, favourite people. It starts to feel like a floating village. If you like having options (restaurants, bars, activities, entertainment), a big ship delivers that. Pro tip: fly in the day before. San Francisco has plenty to offer, and you'll board relaxed instead of rushed. A spring departure helps too: decent weather and a calmer feel at each port. Good route, good ship, good timing. It all lines up.
