Port Lincoln sits on Boston Bay at the southern tip of the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. The harbour is three times the size of Sydney Harbour. The town calls itself Australia's Seafood Capital, and the fishing fleet supplies some of the best tuna, oysters, and King George whiting in the country. The marina and main street are walkable from the port. Shark cage diving with great white sharks is the headline excursion, running weather-permitting from nearby Neptune Islands. Swimming with wild sea lions and tuna are also offered. The Axel Stenross Maritime Museum covers the region's boat-building history. Whalers Way, a private conservation area on the coast south of town, has dramatic cliffs and blowholes but requires a key from the visitor centre. Port Lincoln National Park has bushwalking trails with views over the bay. Fresh seafood is the obvious meal choice. Australian dollars are the currency.
