St. George's is the capital of Grenada, a small island in the southern Caribbean. The town wraps around a horseshoe-shaped harbour called the Carenage, and ships dock at the cruise terminal nearby. The town has steep hills, colourful buildings, and a spice-scented atmosphere. Grenada is known as the Spice Island because it produces nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, and cocoa. Fort George, above the harbour, has views over the town and coastline. Grand Anse Beach, about 15 minutes from the port, is a 3km stretch of white sand and is Grenada's most popular beach. The Belmont Estate offers tours of a working plantation with cocoa, nutmeg, and other spice production. The underwater sculpture park in Molinere Bay has concrete figures on the sea floor, now covered in coral, and is accessible by snorkelling or glass-bottom boat. Fresh nutmeg ice cream is the local treat. The Eastern Caribbean Dollar is the currency.
