Cape Liberty is a cruise terminal in Bayonne, New Jersey, sitting on a spit of land in New York Harbor with a direct view of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline. The terminal opened in 2004 and is about 15 minutes from Newark Liberty International Airport. It mainly serves as a departure point for Caribbean and transatlantic sailings rather than a port of call. The immediate surroundings in Bayonne are residential and industrial, without much for tourists to do on foot. The draw is the proximity to New York City, which is roughly 30 minutes by car or a combination of the light rail and PATH train. Most passengers either arrange pre-cruise hotel stays in Manhattan or take a taxi to the terminal on sailing day. Parking at the port is available for passengers driving themselves.
