Philadelphia's cruise terminal sits at Pier 1 on the Delaware River, about a mile south of the historic district. Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell are the main draws, both free to visit, and they're clustered together in the old city. The cobblestone streets around Elfreth's Alley, the oldest continuously inhabited residential street in the US, give a sense of the colonial-era city. The Philadelphia Museum of Art is famous for its steps (the Rocky steps) and its collection inside, which includes European paintings and armour. Reading Terminal Market, a covered food market operating since 1893, has everything from Amish baked goods to cheesesteaks. The cheesesteak is the city's signature food, and the Pat's vs. Geno's debate at the intersection of 9th and Passyunk is a local rite of passage. The US dollar is the currency. Public transport and ride-hailing cover the city well.
