Volcanic trade winds – Madeira & Canary Islands
About this cruise
Long enough to properly switch off but not so long you need to reorganise your entire life. This 10-night sailing from Civitavecchia (Rome) on December 7, 2026 visits Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Cruz de la Palma, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Puerto del Rosario, Funchal and Arrecife. Disembarkation is in Arrecife. The sea days come first, which means no rushing to get off the ship on day one. You hit the ports relaxed and ready. Black-sand beaches on one island, dense laurel forests on another. The Canaries are surprisingly varied. If one port sticks with you, it'll probably be Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Where Teide watches over the harbour. Roughly 11 hours ashore per stop. No need to rush. MSC Fantasia keeps you well fed. 5 places to eat, with 2 included in the fare and a few specialty spots if you're in the mood. The shows alone are worth the extra nights. You'll catch comedy, music, theatre, and themed evenings you'd miss on a shorter trip. Families and groups will find plenty to do: waterslides, shows, multiple pools, and something for every age. If you can, add a night in Civitavecchia (Rome) before boarding. It's a good city to wander. And a December cruise to warmer water? Hard to argue with that when it's cold at home. It's the kind of trip you actually remember afterwards.
